Testing Your FastSpring Store

The FastSpring platform is accessed through a set of URLs specific to your Store (see Linking to Your Storefronts for more information).  Using various Storefront URLs you can test linking to your Storefront's Homepage or to an individual product.   Links to your URLs are located on the FastSpring Dashboard under the LINKS command within a Web Storefront.  Go to the Homepage or Product Page section and select the URL that you wish to test.

Testing The Web Storefront

Once you have configured your Web Storefront and added at least one product to the Homepage, you are able to test the Storefront.   See Choosing products to be displayed on the Storefront's Homepage for additional information.  To begin testing, select to "Open" the "Test" URL in the Homepage (see above) and your test FastSpring Web Storefront will be displayed.  The test Storefront will include the product names, icons, descriptions and prices (including discounts, upsells and cross-sells) for the products that have been added to the storefront's Homepage.   


You can now test any of the functionality that you have configured within the Storefront. 

Each of your Storefronts provides a set of test transactions available to be used during the testing of purchases.  Click a Storefront's TEST command to see the credit card information for testing both successful and failed purchases. 

Testing Popup Storefronts

To test a Popup Storefront, you may choose to integrate the Storefront into your website using the test links for the Storefront, and / or simply click the Storefront's PREVIEW command.  Once the popup is displayed, you can test the purchase process by using the credit card data provided in the TEST option under Popup Storefront.

At various points during the testing of purchases emails will be generated.  These test emails will be sent to the support contact email address for the Store.  Select Settings -> Store Settings and verify the contents of the From Name and Reply-To-Email fields for your customer-facing support contact information.  This is also a great opportunity to verify and adjust your customer notification settings and email templates

Testing Your Product URL

Product testing pages allow you to see how the product will appear to your customers, including all upsells and cross-sells for the selected product. Viewing the product test page is helpful when testing product options and your page design. 

After clicking the Storefront's LINKS command, In the Product Page section, select the product you wish to test from the drop down list within the "Test" URL and click Open.  

The product test page will be displayed with the selected product in the cart.  You can test all functions pertaining to the selected product, such as: adding additional quantities and including cross sell products or an upsell product to your test order.

You should continue to adjust and retest the homepage and product pages until you are satisfied with the results.
